Stage 8: Grand Tour Comeback

08 Dec 2022

Hey, how are you doing today? are you doing alright? wow its been a while, in all honestly when I started this I had so much on my plate, I thought I could do it all and clearly I couldn’t.

A lot has changed since then too, Ive moved to Girona, Spain. I have gone fully remote, ridden more kilometres than I have I did last year and found my drive.

I also got a cat and an apartment….. It’s been a whirlwind of a year.

How will this sustack progress? well I think to say it becomes a weekly thing will be to much, so lets stick to ones per month and stick some of the cool things that i’ve been doing in / what I think is cool?

#Polarides

Community rides in Girona. It’s one thing I started recently at CHPT3 as it was part of my JD when we partnered up. We know every single road, gravel + trail. and recently made the decision to share rides, and create something for whoever comes to Girona can come join us on our regular outings.

We’ll be doing them weekly, mixing it up all the time, and today we did what we’re calling #Polarides. But why Polarides? Because it’s one of my favourite forms of photography and David loved using it so much during this year’s Tour de France and his Millar’s Tour series.

#veloexperience

At the end of October I was invited to join Léquipier and Biehler to shoot there veloexperience / brand summit including there new line of jerseys and bibs, It was an amazing experience that somewhat also felt like a training camp. A majority of those on the experience were friends of mine as it was way to test their concept, also being a former biehler ambassador this also helped with knowing people.

It was 3 full days of riding with a camera strapped to my back the whole time, shooting all day in the hot October sun, most days were 110km + with 2300m + elevation. When I got back to Girona I had a little bit of a comedown, but the shots I got were so worth it. Here is a link to my selects

Following a near fatal crash in 2021 that left her bed-bound and unable to walk, Ana Orenz could think of only one correct course of action - to return to the race that nearly killed her just one year on.

Pitched to Rapha on the terrace of Kendal Mountain Film Festival in 2021 by Best Short Film winners Rufus Exton and Steve Bliss, Descent tells the remarkable tale of a life lived in devotion of the bike, where passion becomes obsession and the tests of true strength go far beyond the physical.

When the ultimate test of endurance exists inside the mind. A working, single mother and ultra distance cyclist, Ana’s life is geared toward solitude but has been shaped by the presence of others.

From childhood disability to triple-everesting and then sustaining life-altering injuries, this is the journey of coming to terms with a body you no longer recognise and relearning what it is, and is not, capable of.
